AH &M Cricket Club clinched the champion trophy of SPL Red Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament by sumptuous 98 runs on Sunday at the Kingtom Police Oval, leaving Golden Eagles in petrified curiosity even as the first edition screeched to a halt.
AH & M posted 149 runs for the loss of 8 in 12 overs, squeezing the Eagles at 51 all out in 8.3 overs to settle the Asian affairs dustlessly.
The tournament, lasting for 4 weeks, brought together 8 teams having been organized by cricket lovers among Asians with moral and human resource support by Cricket Sierra Leone.
The organizers said their aim is to bring the Asian community together, promoting sportsmanship, and creating a platform for players to showcase their talent.
“For us, it is a way to connect, celebrate and build relationships. Going forward, we aim to expand this tournament by introducing different formats of cricket, increasing participation, and improving the overall standard of the game,” they said.
