President Dr. Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone has joined fellow heads of state at the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) in The Gambia, under the theme “Enhancing Unity and Solidarity Through Dialogue for Sustainable Development.” This two-day engagement aims to address pressing issues related to peace and shared values among member nations.
Expressing gratitude to President Adama Barrow of The Gambia for hospitality and Saudi Arabia for hosting the 15th session of the conference, President Bio highlighted Sierra Leone’s pride in being part of the diverse OIC community. He emphasized the significance of the conference in uniting nations with shared values and aspirations for peace and prosperity.
Addressing global challenges amidst geopolitical tensions, President Bio stressed the importance of solidarity and cooperation among OIC member states as a beacon of hope in a fractured world. He lamented the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, condemning the loss of civilian lives and destruction of essential infrastructure.
Calling for urgent action to resolve conflicts and ensure global well-being, President Bio reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s commitment to promoting world peace and stability in accordance with international law. He pledged his nation’s continued leadership role in fostering pragmatic and principled approaches to achieve sustainable development and global peace.
