Twenty-four-year-old Foday Kanu has been arraigned before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 2 in Freetown on two counts of fraudulent conversion and malicious damage.

According to the particulars of the offence, Kanu allegedly, on March 25, 2026, at Bathole Regent Village, fraudulently converted a Wrangler 4×4 Jeep with registration number AXH 220, valued at US$25,000 (equivalent to Le600,000).

The prosecution alleged that the vehicle had been entrusted to him by Lamin Bonsur for the purpose of delivering it to a man identified as Emmanuel John.

On the second count, the prosecution further alleged that on the same date and at the same location, Kanu maliciously damaged an ignition switch valued at Le3,500, two relay fuses valued at Le500 each, and a motor starter valued at Le1,500. The total value of the allegedly damaged items was put at Le6,000, and the property is said to belong to Kadiatu Jalloh.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken because the matter is before the court for a committal proceeding.

Magistrate Fornah subsequently adjourned the matter to July 13, 2026, for further hearing.
