A bench warrant has been issued against 36-year-old Hassan Kargbo and his surety after they failed to appear before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 2 in Freetown in connection with an alleged vehicle parts theft case.

Kargbo is facing one count of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act, 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, between June 1 and June 30, 2025, at the Public Works Department (PWD), Pademba Road, Freetown, in the Western Area of Sierra Leone, Kargbo allegedly stole several vehicle parts from a Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number ADS 174.

The prosecution alleged that the stolen items include a brake master cylinder, fan, condenser, three tyres, 23-wheel studs, four electric door window switches, an LCD car stereo system, two brake calipers with brake pads, an air cleaner, a gear roof, and a loose electrical system.

It was further alleged that the vehicle had been entrusted to Kargbo by Tonia Barnett, Esq., for repair purposes.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.

The matter could not proceed because both the defendant and his surety were absent from court. Magistrate Fornah subsequently ordered that the bench warrant issued against them be enforced.

The matter was adjourned to July 14, 2026, for further hearing.
