As the Communist Party of China (CPC) marks its 105th founding anniversary on 1 July 2026, it reflects on more than a century of leadership, transformation, and national development. Over the past 105 years, the CPC has led the Chinese people through the new-democratic revolution, socialist revolution and construction, reform and opening, socialist modernization, and the advancement of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

Within just a few decades, China has completed an industrialization process that took many developed countries several centuries to achieve. This progress has been accompanied by rapid economic growth and sustained social stability, achievements that the CPC attributes to its guiding principles and long-term vision. These qualities, the Party believes, provide important insights into China’s development path and philosophy. The following reflections are shared with friends in Sierra Leone.

The CPC regards Marxism as its guiding ideology and remains committed to seeking truth from facts, advancing with the times, and adopting a pragmatic approach to governance. By continuously adapting its theories to meet changing realities, the Party believes it has remained on a path that promotes national development and long-term stability.

The Party maintains that the people are at the heart of national development. It emphasizes serving the public interest, governing for the benefit of the people, and remaining closely connected to citizens by understanding their needs and working alongside them to improve their lives.

The CPC views itself as carrying the historic responsibility of advancing the development and rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. By combining long-term strategic planning with practical policy implementation, the Party says it has maintained continuity while adapting to changing national and global circumstances.

According to the CPC, maintaining a broad global outlook and a clear understanding of China’s national conditions has enabled it to respond effectively to new opportunities and challenges. The Party emphasizes innovation, adaptability, and forward-looking governance as essential to remaining relevant in a rapidly changing world.

Throughout its history, the CPC says it has demonstrated resilience in the face of adversity. Guided by its commitment to national development and its ideals, the Party highlights perseverance, courage, and determination as defining characteristics that have enabled it to overcome numerous challenges.

The CPC also places strong emphasis on continuous self-improvement. It believes that effective governance requires constant self-examination, reform, and institutional strengthening to meet the evolving needs of society and maintain the confidence of the people.

From securing national independence to achieving economic prosperity, and from addressing basic needs to building a moderately prosperous society, the Communist Party of China has grown from just over 50 founding members in 1921 to more than 100 million members and over 5.4 million primary-level Party organizations today.

Over the past 105 years, the CPC maintains that its close relationship with the Chinese people, commitment to reform, and pursuit of national development have enabled it to guide China’s modernization and contribute to global development. It also believes that China’s experience offers valuable insights for developing countries pursuing modernization while supporting efforts to build a community with a shared future for humanity.

As the Party commemorates its 105th anniversary, it reaffirms its commitment to advancing China’s development, promoting modernization, and contributing to international cooperation and shared prosperity.
