Sports Minister Backs New Leone Stars Coach

The Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James-Teima, has commended the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) for conducting a transparent process in the appointment of Didier Gomes Da Rosa as the new Head Coach of the Leone Stars.

Speaking during the official unveiling ceremony at the New Brookfields Hotel in Freetown on Friday, the Minister said the Ministry of Sports and the National Sports Authority (NSA) were involved throughout the recruitment process.

She noted that the government institutions were consulted from the advertisement of the coaching position, through the shortlisting of applicants, to the final unveiling of the successful candidate.

Madam James-Teima expressed satisfaction with the manner in which the process was conducted and said the SLFA had followed due diligence in selecting the new coach.

Madam Minister also congratulated the 55-year-old French coach on his appointment and assured him of the government’s support as he takes charge of the national team.

The Executive Director of the National Sports Authority, Mohamed Alphaka Conteh, Esq., who attended the ceremony, also reiterated the Authority’s commitment to supporting football development in Sierra Leone

Coach Didier Gomez Da Rosa was officially unveiled by the SLFA as the new Leone Stars Head Coach as preparations continue for the country’s upcoming international engagements.
