The Government of Sierra Leone, through the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE), has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening tertiary education by donating a vehicle to the Kono University of Science and Technology (KUST) to enhance the institution’s operational and administrative efficiency.

The vehicle was officially presented by the Minister of Technical and Higher Education, Dr. Haja Ramatulai Wurie, as part of ongoing efforts to provide practical support to higher education institutions across the country.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Dr. Wurie stated that the donation is intended to support the activities of the university’s Secretariat and improve administrative service delivery.

She noted that the Government remains committed to ensuring that universities are adequately equipped with the resources needed to effectively carry out their academic and administrative responsibilities.

“Strengthening the operational capacity of our universities remains a key priority for the Ministry. Access to essential resources is critical to institutional growth, improved service delivery, and the achievement of quality educational outcomes,” Dr. Wurie said.

She further emphasized that the Government is dedicated to creating an enabling environment for higher education institutions to fulfill their mandate of producing skilled graduates and contributing to national development.

Receiving the vehicle on behalf of KUST, the Vice Chancellor and Principal, Prof. Tamba Jamiru, expressed appreciation to the Ministry for the timely intervention, describing the donation as a significant boost to the university’s operations.

Prof. Jamiru noted that transportation challenges often affect the execution of official duties and institutional engagements, adding that the vehicle will greatly enhance the efficiency of the Secretariat and facilitate the smooth implementation of the university’s programmes and activities.

He commended the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education and its partners for their continued support to KUST, stressing that such contributions play a vital role in strengthening the institution’s capacity to serve students, staff, and the wider community.

The donation highlights the strong partnership between the Government and higher education institutions and reflects ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, administration, and the overall quality of tertiary education in Sierra Leone.
