The leadership of the Sierra Leone Water Company has provided and installed a new 100KVA generator at its Kambia station in a move aimed at improving water supply operations in the district on 11 May 2026.

The intervention follows several weeks of unstable electricity supply, which had negatively affected operations and caused frustration among customers.

Speaking after the installation, SALWACO’s Chief Utility Director, Abdul Ben Lebbie, said the installation was necessary to address operational challenges affecting water distribution in Kambia.

“The installation of the new generator is intended to remedy the operational difficulties in Kambia and ensure more reliable service delivery to our customers,” he stated.

Residents in Kambia had earlier expressed concern and dissatisfaction over the inconsistent water supply and operational difficulties faced by SALWACO in the district. With the arrival of the new generator, many customers are expected to regain confidence in the company’s ability to provide reliable water services.

Earlier, SALWACO’s Managing Director, Tiideni Hawa Jabbi, emphasized that transforming SALWACO into a fully functional and financially viable institution remains the central focus of her administration.

She also noted that the company has recorded an increase in revenue over the past few months, adding that the installation of the new generator in Kambia represents another positive step toward improving service delivery and operational efficiency.
