A 24-year-old driver, Mohamed Condeh, has been committed to stand trial at the High Court on a charge of murder. The committal was ordered by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1, who also remanded the accused at the male correctional facility in Freetown.

The accused is charged with murder, contrary to Section 1 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, as amended by the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2021 (Act No. 6 of 2022).

According to the particulars of offence, the alleged incident occurred on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Chief Compound, off Wilkinson Road in the Western Area of Freetown, where the accused is alleged to have murdered Gbrilla Sankoh.

When the charge was read and explained in court, no plea was taken from the defendant.

The prosecution, led by Inspector Mabel M. Trawallie, presented its witnesses before closing its case.

In his ruling, Magistrate Jah stated that he was satisfied that the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence to warrant committing the matter to the High Court for trial. He ordered that the case be transferred for trial and remanded the accused in custody pending further proceedings.
