The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has successfully concluded Module 1 of its ongoing CAF C Diploma Coaching Course following five days of intensive theoretical and practical instruction.
The training programme brought together aspiring coaches from across Sierra Leone, all committed to strengthening their technical expertise and understanding of modern football coaching. Participants undertook comprehensive sessions covering tactical analysis, training methodology, player development principles, classroom discussions, and structured on-field practical exercises designed in accordance with standards set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Throughout the module, CAF Instructor Keatu John Smith stressed professionalism, discipline, leadership, and the critical role coaches play in both grassroots and elite football development. Special attention was given to session planning, game intelligence, talent identification, and effective communication with players.
In line with the CAF C Diploma certification pathway, participants will now proceed on a compulsory internship attachment before the commencement of Module 2. This practical phase will provide hands-on experience within clubs and academies, enabling coaches to apply knowledge gained during Module 1 in real football environments.
Module 2 is set for 6-10 March 2026, when participants will reconvene to continue the next stage of their professional development.
The SLFA remains steadfast in its commitment to capacity building and coach education as a central pillar in promoting football nationwide. Through sustained investment in technical development, the Association continues to strengthen the foundation of the game and push for long-term growth.
