Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh officially inaugurated the Kombra Market in Devil Hole, a key project sponsored by the Kombra Foundation. The new market provides a vital resource for local women entrepreneurs, offering them a safe, clean, and well-constructed space to sell their goods.

The inauguration came after multiple requests from the community for support, prompting Vice President Jalloh to collaborate with local stakeholders, as well as the Central and Regional Government (CRSG). “This initiative is a testament to the power of community engagement and partnership,” he stated during the opening ceremony.

In addition to addressing the community’s immediate economic needs, the project also contributes to the construction of a school, which was initiated by local residents, further enhancing educational opportunities for children in the area.

The new market is a crucial step toward empowering women in the community, helping them manage their businesses more effectively and contribute to the local economy. “I am extremely proud of the outcome and the expected impact in the community, especially for women,” Jalloh remarked, emphasizing the initiative’s focus on gender equality and economic empowerment.

Community members expressed their gratitude for the new market, recognizing the importance of such facilities in fostering economic growth. However, Vice President Jalloh emphasized that the success of the project reflects the community’s initiative and resilience. “This is your initiative, and I thank you for your unwavering support,” he added.

The Kombra Market stands as a model of collaboration between the government, local organizations, and the community, demonstrating how collective efforts can effectively address everyday needs.

As the market opens its doors, it is expected to stimulate local commerce, create new opportunities for women, and contribute to the broader economic development of Sierra Leone.
