The OlympAfric Center has on 11th February 2023 has commenced Youth Games with a basketball competition for children at Goderich.
According to the Director of the OlympAfrica Center in Goderich, Frank Turay, who is also the Chairman of the Sustainability Commission at the National Olympic Committee in Sierra Leone (NOC-SLE), the Youth Games is aiming at raising the level of Children from 2022 to 2025.
The program was supposed to start last year but it was kick-started on the 30th of January 2023, it consists of so many activities and it will last for at least two months.
The Youth Games are planned for new talent to be tapped ahead of the feature International games between the ages of 12,13, and 15 years and the funding is from the International Olympic Committee.
Sierra Leone has over the years not participated in the Youth games for the past four years, but now the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone has thought it fit to get those Youth Games back on track and start to participate in those Sports. Already the National Olympic Committee has many events coming up for the Federation under NOC, starting from June to December 2023 all having to do with Qualifications for the Olympics Games in France, World Beach Games, and the Africa Games.
