33yrs old Abubakar Sesay, 25yrs old Samuel Mathia a pupil and Mohamed Jalloh a Trader made their first appearance before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on three count charges to wit Conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law, Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916 and Receiving stolen goods contrary to section 33 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on Thursday 17th November 2022 at Barney drive off tengbeh town the western area in Freetown conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit Larceny on count two at the same place and date the first and second accused persons stole nine lengths of PVC pipes valued one hundred and eighty Leones(180,00) each and thirty 0.4 roll cable all to the total value of nine thousand Leones(9,000) property of Lourence Kaideneh
On count three the third accused person Mohamed Jalloh on the same date at Kroo town road the western area in Freetown did receive four lengths of PVC pipes valued seven hundred and twenty Leones(720,00) knowing same to have been stolen property of the said complainant.
The charges were read and explained to the accused persons pleaded guilty whilst the third accused person pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of police Malik Barrie told the bench that fact as charge no available records against the accused persons.
Counsel representing the third accused person A. Mansaray applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person that he is not a flight risk he has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to go into recognizance on his behalf he has a fixed abode nor will he interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses he made his application pursuant to section 79 3 of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965.
However, Magistrate Gogra granted the third accused person bail in the sum of twenty million Leones with two sureties in like sum sureties to be resident in the western area in Freetown.
Sureties to be 50yrs and above both sureties to produce valid national passport for identification both sureties to be employed in a government institution in Sierra Leone.
Bail to be approved by the Bench where the first and second accused persons was sentenced to six months each to the male correctional center in Freetown matter adjourned to the 25th November 2022 for further hearing.
