After the summary matter involving four (4) accused in a Makeni August 10 2022 riots, John Koroma, Mohamed Samura, Alie Jalloh and Charles Caulker was found guilty of the offences charged by Magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker of Court No. 2 Pademba Road, Freetown.
In her ruling, Magistrate Tucker said all what the witnesses testified against the four convicts corroborated which they are charged on two counts of riotous conduct contrary to Section 12 (a) of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965 and insulting behavior Contrary to Section 3 (1) of the Public Order Act 46 of 1965. According to count 1 charge statement all four accused John Koroma at No. 7 stoco road, Makeni, Mohamed Samura of Wilberforce Barracks Freetown, Alie Jalloh of No. 11 Abu lane Makeni and Charles Caulker of No. 26 Sahid Kamara Street, Freetown on Wednesday 10th August 2022, at NP parking ground area, Azzolini Highway, Makeni, Bombali Shebora Chiefdom, behave in a riotous manner. Count 2 state that all accused persons on the same date and place did behave in a disorderly manner.
On their first appearance the charges were read and explained to the accused persons they pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Tucker said she find all 4 accused persons guilty and sentence each to 18 months imprisonment and to pay a fine of four thousand Leones each to the State.
