36yrs old Chernoh Saidu Barrie and 27yrs old Aruna Hassan Fullah both drivers made their first appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on two count charges to wit Larceny by Servant contrary to section 17 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916 and Accessory contrary to law.
According to the particulars of offence on Saturday 26th February 2022 at No.3 Amara Dumbuya Lane Makeni at Bombali Shebora Chiefdom in the Bombali Judicial district the Northern Province in Freetown being a servant employed by Haja Tenneh Tarawalie stole one blue Toyota For runner vehicle with registration number ANF 418 value forty five thousand united States dollars equivalent to seven hundred and sixty thousand five hundred Leones(760,500), and on count two at the same place and date the second accused person Aruna Hassan Fullah did assist to sell the said vehicle knowing that the latter have already stolen the said vehicle being an accessory after the fact.
The charges were read and explained to the accused persons and no plea was taken.
The prosecutor informed the Bench that his witness is absent.
Counsel representing the accused person A.B Bangura made an application for bail on behalf of the accused persons that they are Sierra Leonean resident within this jurisdiction that they have credible sureties who are willing and ready to go into recognizance on his behalf they will not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses. He made his application pursuant to section 79 2 of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965.
However, Magistrate Ngegba refused bail and sent both accused persons to the male correctional center in Freetown. Matter adjourned to the 8th November 2022 for further hearing, while Sergeant 9155 Dwight Macarthy prosecuting the matter.
