Sierra Leone Senior National team will today face Les Eperviers, of Togo at the Mardan Sports Stadium in Aksu Antalya in Turkey at 4 pm local time as they prepared for their first international friendlies.
Leone Stars will also play against the Lone Stars of Liberia and Congo Brazzaville in later dates.
Leone stars return to action after they bow out of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon as they lost their last match against Equatorial Guinea and they hoping to bounce back from their (1-0) defeat in the AFCON in January.
Leone Stars of Sierra Leone are going to this match with a poor record against Togo in international competition, they have lost five times against Togo and the last defeat was on the 2nd June 2007 at the Siaka Stevens Stadium by a goal to nil during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. This will be their eight meetings between the two nations.
According to John Keister the head coach of the National Team, the technical team has decided to bring new players to test the strength of the players as they continue their preparation for the next Africa Cup Nations qualifiers that will start in June the group stages.
The Leone Stars squad is boosted will a lot of new players who will make their first appearance for their birth Country Sierra Leone, players such as Amadou Bakayoko, Cambuur Duo , Alex Bangura and Issa Kallon will get their first training session with the rest of the players. The technical team invited 23 players for the three friendlies matches.
John Keister said the national team is going through a transition period that why they have decided to introduce new faces as he prepared to test the squad before going to the qualifiers in June.
He said the team is going to focus on winning their friendlies matches because that will give them a better strength going forward in the other matches.
