Young Political Leadership School (YPLS) Africa Cohort 8 Alumni has embarked on deepening civil responsibility and engagement in Schools.

Speaking at the Engagement at the Queen of the Rosary Schools, one of the members of the engagement, Theresa Kallon said that the program is about   training young people particularly the youths   across Africa in terms of integrity, good governance and proper accountability and ensuring that the youth abhor violence.

Speaking to A-Z, students of Christ the King College (CKC) commended the engagement on non-violence, noting that as youths it was good that they were targeted as most of the youths have been perpetuating violence during the sport meets and during   elections.

“We will share the message with other young people in the community. We should not allow politicians to use us to unleash violence in the society.   Youths are now conscious of the fact that we tools are for development not for destruction,’’ Tony Bockarie said

A pupil at Queen of the Rosary Secondary School, Elizabeth Kabba said that “I like the area of accountability because in Sierra Leone some of our leaders do not want to give account of their stewardship. Leaders need to be accountable in the country. This will help bring development in the country and will enhance good governance.’’

It could be recalled that in so doing in this year’s Summit few leaders were in attendance including the Vice President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, Vice President of Liberia, Mrs. Jewel Howard Taylor and Ambassadors from Ireland, Britain, USA.

Germany and including representatives from the UN and ECCOWAS called on the young people across Africa to take on initiatives that will mould them into good leadership for tomorrow.   The Vice Presidents of Liberia and Sierra Leone spoke in separate remarks at the opening ceremony of Young Political leadership School Africa organized by NAYMOYE in Monrovia.
