Police Testifies In Tokeh Murder Matter

The fifth prosecution witness, Detective Inspector Unisa Tarawally attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the Adonkia Police Division Goderich, in Freetown, has on the 20th October, 2021 testified in the ongoing murder matter involving Abdul Lamin Kamara, who is charged with murder.

The accused is before the court on one count of murder, which is contrary to Section 4 of the Offences against the persons Act of 1861.

The police said Abdul Lamin Kamara, on the 21st September 2021 at Tokeh Goderich, in Freetown, murdered Abdul Slowe, a friend of his.

PW5  told the bench that he recognized the accused and could recall the day in question.

He added that on that day, he was on duty at the aforementioned unit, Adonkia police Division in Freetown, when the matter was assigned to him for investigations.

He said the case file was containing statements from witnesses, a voluntary caution statement from the accused including a legal advice from the office Director of Public prosecution (DPP).

The witness rounded up his evidence stating that based on the advice from the Director of Public Prosecution, having reviewed it, he charged the accused with the offence of murder, which is contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone. The charged statement was produced and tendered to form part of the court’s records.

The defence counsel, M.B. Conteh, conducted cross examination on behalf of the accused.

 The accused was refused bail and remanded at Male Correctional Center, at Pademba Road in Freetown, and the matter was adjourned to 26th October, 2021.
