Alex Blamoi Koffi, a 54-year-old man, was once again arraigned before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No. 2 on three counts: Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm, Malicious Damage, and Larceny.
The charges stem from an incident on Tuesday, 16th July 2024, at No. 11 Willoughby Lane, Brookfield, Freetown, in the Western Area of Sierra Leone. According to the police charge sheet, the accused allegedly assaulted Brima Sesay, causing him actual bodily harm, in violation of Section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.
Count two accuses Koffi of maliciously damaging two padlocks, each valued at 25 Leones, bringing the total to 50 Leones, the property of Brima Sesay.
Count three outlines that Koffi allegedly stole various items, including one human hair (valued at 1,800 Leones), two drinking cups (30 Leones each, totaling 60 Leones), seven female jeans trousers (70 Leones each, totaling 490 Leones), four pairs of ladies’ footwear (250 Leones each, totaling 1,000 Leones), one passport book (valued at 2,500 Leones), and 5,000 Leones in cash, bringing the total value of the stolen goods to 9,350 Leones, all the property of Brima Sesay.
When the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty.
State Prosecutor Sergeant 3379 Ballay presented testimony from witness number four, Balla Tejan Samura (DPC 13217), attached to the Exhibit Office at New England Police Station. Samura recalled that on the 3rd of August 2024, while on duty, DCP 18386 Sesay A. handed over several items to him in relation to the case. These items included:
Samura confirmed that he took custody of these exhibits, registered them in the exhibit book with serial number 27/2024, and they have since been in police custody. These items were tendered as evidence in court.
The accused is represented by F. Kamara. The case has been adjourned to 23rd May 2025, with bail continuing for the accused.
