Twenty-nine-year-old Mohamed Conteh made his first appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown on charges of house breaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act 1916, and malicious damage contrary to Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act 1861.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Thursday, 26 March 2026, at No. 14 Back of Bintumani Drive, Aberdeen, in the Western Area of Freetown, the defendant allegedly broke and entered the dwelling house of Nagimu Thomas with intent to steal.
The charge further alleged that the defendant stole one sliding window and its frame valued at Five Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Leones (Le5,760), property of Mr. Thomas.
Count two stated that, on the same date and at the same location, the defendant maliciously damaged one window guard valued at One Thousand Two Hundred Leones (Le1,200), also belonging to Mr. Thomas.
When the charges were read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken because the matter is before the court as committal proceedings.
The prosecutor, Sergeant 3379 Theresa Ballay, applied for a subpoena to be issued against an absent prosecution witness.
Magistrate Fornah granted the application and ordered that the defendant be remanded at the male correctional facility due to the seriousness of the offences charged.
The matter was adjourned to 26 May 2026.
