Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged police officers across the country to remain committed to serving the people, uphold their responsibilities and demonstrate loyalty, dedication and a strong sense of duty.
Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks in a recent reply letter to the “Zhangzhou 110” police unit in Zhangzhou, east China’s Fujian Province.
In the letter, Xi commended officers of the unit for their dedication and hard work at the grassroots level, particularly their efforts to serve the public, combat crime and maintain social stability.
He stressed that the police have an important responsibility to safeguard the well-being of the people and protect national peace and security.
Xi called on police officers to uphold their fine traditions, respond wholeheartedly to the needs and concerns of the public, and work diligently to protect the safety and security of the people.
The “Zhangzhou 110” unit is regarded as an exemplary grassroots police force in China. Since 1990, it has pioneered and continuously improved a rapid-response mechanism linked to the 110 police emergency call service.
The mechanism has played an important role in combating crime, maintaining public security and providing services to local communities.
During his tenure in Fujian, Xi visited the police unit three times to inspect and guide its work.
Recently, members of the unit wrote to Xi, reporting on their work and expressing their determination to continue fulfilling their duties and responsibilities on the new journey.
