A woman, Damoh Williams, has been remanded at the Female Correctional Centre by Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 2 in Freetown after changing her plea and admitting to an assault charge.
Williams is expected to return to court on 28 July 2026, when the court will receive her records and proceed to pass sentence.
She appeared before the court on one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act, 1861.
According to the indictment, the accused allegedly committed the offence on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, at No. 36B Ascension Town, Freetown, in the Republic of Sierra Leone, where she assaulted Safiatu Bangura in a manner that caused actual bodily harm.
During the proceedings, Williams, who had previously pleaded not guilty to the charge, informed the court of her intention to change her plea. After the charge was read and explained to her again, she pleaded guilty.
Following her guilty plea, Magistrate Fornah ordered that Williams be remanded at the Female Correctional Centre pending sentencing.
The matter has been adjourned to 28 July 2026 for the court to receive her records and pass sentence.
