WEEK 1 VACCINATION SUMMARY

 The Ministry of Health & Sanitation through multi-lateral partnership with its health allies continues to work tirelessly to eradicate the spread of COVID-19 and such efforts resulted to the acquisition and launch of Sinopharm and AstraZeneca Vaccines on the 15th March 2020.

Since the rollout of the mass inoculation throughout the country on 22nd March, remarkable progresses have so far been made regarding service delivery, acceptance and safety. There have been evidences of strong sense of commitment to the process; from health workers taking the vaccination process to the people in Karene to high standard hygienic vaccine delivery at Njala University Hospital and so much more across various districts.

With the aim of achieving a highly vaccinated population, the Health Ministry continues to engage partners for the deployment of more COVID-19 Vaccines in ensuring consistency and efficiency of the process.

15,706 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN VACCINATED IN SIERRA LEONE Ø Vaccination has been done in all the 16 districts across the country. Ø Kailahun and Bo combined have vaccinated more people than the capital Freetown. Ø Non-health workers have registered the highest vaccinated category in all districts. Ø Balanced gender immunization rate (Male-60%, Female 40%) Ø Target beneficiaries have now been expanded to include all persons over the age of 60 years as well as people between 40-60 years with comorbidities.
