Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, has joined President Mamadi Doumbouya and other national and international guests in Conakry for Guinea’s 68th Independence Day celebrations.
Vice President Jalloh is attending the celebrations as a special guest of President Doumbouya, marking another engagement between the two neighbouring countries.
His participation follows a recent working visit to Conakry, where he held high-level discussions with Guinea’s Prime Minister and Head of Government, Amadou Oury Bah, on 14 September 2026.
The discussions, conducted in French, focused on areas of mutual interest, including migration, border security and trade. They also provided an opportunity to address concerns affecting Sierra Leonean nationals living and working in Guinea.
Sierra Leone and Guinea have maintained longstanding bilateral relations, supported by their shared history, geographical proximity and strong people-to-people ties.
Guinea gained independence from France on 2 October 1958. This year’s Independence Day celebrations are being held under the theme, “Drawing Inspiration from the Past to Build the Future Together: Our Youth,” highlighting the role of young people in the country’s future development.
Vice President Jalloh’s participation in the celebrations further highlights the ongoing engagement between Sierra Leone and Guinea and their continued cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
