U.S Ambassador, British High Commissioner Visit Slpp Regional Office Bo District

It was a remarkable moment when the U.S Ambassador and the British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone made a courtesy call at the Sierra Leone People’s Party Regional Office in Bo district yesterday.

In his opening remarks the Regional Chairman South Elders council Elder Jusu welcomed the Ambassador and his Entourage and highlighted that Sierra Leone has gone through six successive democratic elections and that the SLPP has always maintained peace and democratic principles even in opposition.

The Regional Secretary General South; Mr Francis Ibrahim Massaquoi also highlighted some of the instances which show that SLPP is a democratic and peaceful party particularly  under  the  current President Dr Julius Maada Bio, during the 2012 general elections when hundreds of ballot boxes were invalidated  unlawfully in the strong hold of SLPP, but because of the love of the people and the country as a whole, the current president decided to use the democratic and peaceful means and went to court,  the case was thrown out of court but current president, opposition leader at that time did not do anything but to remained peaceful.

The SLPP Regional Women’s Leader South; Madam Amie C. Koroma highlighted some of the good things that president Bio has done for the women of this country one amongst many is the 30 percent quota.

 In his presentation, the U S Ambassador Bryan Hunt admonished the SLPP supporters and the people of Sierra Leone to maintain the peace and also gave kudos to the government of president Bio for allowing the dialogue and urged the government to go by what both sides signed during the dialogue. On behalf of the Bo District women, the SLPP District Women’s Leader Haja Mary Katta presented a gift to the Ambassador.

In attendance, were the SLPP Bo District Secretary Mr Foday Abdulai, the District Chaplain Mr Wilson Songo, the District Deputy PRO Mr Ahmed U. Kaikai, Mr Bangalie, Mr Kabba; Chairman Constituency 080 and others.
