Two 24-year-old men, Mohamed Kamara and Abdul Kargbo, have been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown after appearing before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on three counts of conspiracy, larceny and malicious damage.
The accused persons are charged with conspiracy contrary to law, larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916, and malicious damage contrary to Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act 1861.
According to the particulars of the offence, between May 1 and May 27, 2026, at the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice’s Building on Lamina Sankoh Street, Western Area, Freetown, the accused allegedly conspired with other persons unknown to commit a felony, to wit larceny.
The second count alleged that during the same period and at the same location, the accused stole 48 air conditioners, 16 steel doors, 24 double-slide glass windows, three EDSA meters and other assorted items belonging to the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice.
The third count alleged that the accused maliciously damaged four wooden doors, also property of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken because the matter is before the court as a committal proceeding.
The prosecution was represented by Deputy Superintendent of Police Eric A. Deen, who requested a short adjournment, citing the absence of a prosecution witness.
Magistrate Jah subsequently remanded both accused persons at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
The magistrate also refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offences.
The matter was adjourned to September 30, 2026.
