Two drivers, Alie Kamara and Abubakarr Koroma, have been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown after appearing before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 on allegations of conspiracy to commit a felony and larceny.
The accused are facing two counts: conspiracy to commit a felony, contrary to law, and larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the Ministry of Education in New England Ville, Western Area, Freetown, the accused allegedly conspired with other persons, who are currently unknown, to steal a white JAC vehicle bearing registration number AWV 063.
The second count alleged that on the same date and at the same location, the accused stole a white JAC J6 4×4 pickup, bearing registration number AWV 063 and valued at Le636, 000. The vehicle is alleged to be the property of the Ministry of Education and was reportedly in the custody of Alie Kamara.
When the charges were read and explained to them in court, both accused pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution was represented by Deputy Superintendent of Police Eric A. Deen Esq., who informed the court that his witness was absent and requested a short adjournment.
Magistrate Jah subsequently ordered that both accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.
The matter was adjourned to September 28, 2026, for further proceedings.
