Three National Cyclists from the Sierra Leone Cycling National Federation has on 11th October 2023 to Departs the shores of Freetown on Friday for Benin ahead of their International Camping.

Three National Cyclists have been in an intensive training for last three month just after the Tour De Lunsar Cycling Competitions.

Abdul Karim Kamara the Administrative Secretary of the Sierra Leone National Cycling Federation said the realistic part of this project came from the hard work they have been doing few years  back home in Lunsar it brought dividend  by getting help from Rise Africa Rider’s Company’s to empowered the Athletes with professional skills ahead of their Qualifiers.

He confirmed that this is the first time the  Cycling training camp is being organized in West Africa and they were only opportune  to be invited because of their hard work they put into it, noting that this is going to be way forward to prepared the Athletes for the All Africa Games, the Olympic qualifying to be precise as their  partners they are working tirelessly with them because they are straight forward people and they want to make sure they are able to achieve their goals in qualifying for international competitions.

Prince Sualley, the President of the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone addressing the Executives  and the Athletes of the Federation said it is even more important that the Olympic games is based on qualification and if an athlete failed to qualified he or she is not going to the games that is the normal way the organizers are operating.

He affirmed that he has been encouraging Sporting disciplines across the board and some of those Associations are now working on their qualification process and Cycling is not an exception in making sure that they go through the normal process in getting their Athletes prepared for qualifiers and the National Olympic Committee is always ready to help in terms of support to sporting disciplines going forward in their respective international competitions.

Rexanne Hargreaves supporting role to the Sierra Leone National Cycling Federation and Lunsar Cycling team said they want to make use of the support from Africa Rising Cycling (ARC) because a small support will bring in bigger ones in the feature, noting if the Federation manage this opportunity well the Country will get more opportunities outside.

Blessing Jabbie  a female Cyclists from Kono  one of the Athletes selected for the international camping in Benin said she feels excited received the message from his manager that she need  to prepared for an international camping away from home in  which she is happy because all these happened due her hard work and outstanding performance in the last competitions.

She pointed out that going there is one thing but her key focus will be to trained harder and be able to qualify the Country in the upcoming international qualifiers.

Yanka Elizabeth Sawyer another female Cyclists said she was excited receiving the message from her manager that she need to brace up for an international camping in Benin, she noted her key focus will be to trained hard and able to get the qualification for major competitions.

The UIA women’s opportunity is set to be hosted in Benin by Africa Rising Cycling (ARC) and the team is set to travel on Friday 13th October 2023 and the training is only going to last for two weeks if all goes well it is expected to wrap up on the 28th October 2023.
