Student Remanded Over Alleged WAEC Result Fraud

A student, Sahid Kargbo, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 on three counts of conspiracy to defraud, forgery, and uttering a forged document.

The offences include conspiracy to defraud, contrary to law; forgery, contrary to Section 4(1) of the Forgery Act of 1913; and uttering a forged document, contrary to Section 6(1)(2) of the same Act.

According to the particulars of offence, on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, at the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, Connaught Campus, Western Area, Freetown, the accused allegedly conspired with other persons unknown with intent to defraud the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, University of Sierra Leone.

The charge sheet further stated that on the same date and at the same location, the accused allegedly forged a West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result, bearing candidate number 7021003204, purporting it to have been issued by WAEC.

It was also alleged that on the same date and place, the accused knowingly uttered the forged WAEC result with candidate number 70210003204, with intent to defraud.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken as the matter is a committal proceeding.

Police Prosecutor DPC 17649 Brima Kargbo informed the court that he had served the defendant with a copy of the case file and inquiry documents.

Magistrate Jah refused bail and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned until 29 June 2026.
