Eighteen-year-old Emmanuel Toby has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 after he was charged with Store Breaking and Larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act, 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Wednesday, 23rd September 2026, at the Fullah Rahman School Compound in Brookfields, Western Area, Freetown, Toby allegedly broke into and entered the kiosk of Mabinty Samura with intent to steal.
It is further alleged that he stole one carton of stout beer, one carton of Cody’s beer, one carton of Sagaria drink and other assorted items, all valued at Twenty-Four Thousand, Seven Hundred and Forty Leones (Le24,740), belonging to Mabinty Samura.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken as the matter is proceeding as a committal proceeding.
The prosecutor, DPC 17469 Brima Kargbo, informed the court that he had served the accused with copies of the case and inquiry file. Toby, who was not legally represented, acknowledged receipt of the documents.
Magistrate Jah subsequently refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offence.
The matter was adjourned to 14th October 2026.
