Squash Union Sierra Leone has on the 26th January, 2022 at their various school compounds donated racquets and balls to two schools- Government Secondary School Kenema and Holy Rosary Secondary School in Kenema city.

The Human Resource Manager of Sierra Fisheries, Mr. Musa, the hosts of other coaches were part of the donations ten racquets and five balls to each school. In his brief statement the HR manager of Fisheries, told the principals that it’s “part of the corporate social responsibility of the fishing company to help communities in the country especially educational institutions”.

He encouraged the pupils to take the game seriously and play it to the best of their abilities, as it is their responsibility to spread an unpopular but elite sport.

However, squash is one of the major games in the world and is played at international sporting events. It’s a far less known sport in Sierra Leone but this move by the association with help from Sierra Fisheries is going to spread the game in the country.

In receiving the items both principals of the respective schools expressed thanks and appreciation and promised to make sure the sport grows. The whole of Kenema district has only one squash court which was bad condition with a need for immediate repair. So it’s a long move in rejuvenating the game.
