The Director General of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA), Yankuba Askia Bio, has welcomed the newly appointed Executive Director of the Conservation Trust Fund (CTF), Ahmid C. Jalloh, and his delegation to the Authority.

The visit, held on Thursday, 17th September 2026, provided an opportunity for the CTF team to introduce the Fund and explore potential areas of collaboration with the SLPHA, particularly in mobilizing resources to support conservation initiatives.

Welcoming the delegation at his conference room, Director General Bio congratulated Mr. Jalloh on his appointment and expressed the Authority’s willingness to support initiatives aimed at protecting Sierra Leone’s wetlands, marine ecosystems and broader biodiversity.

He encouraged the CTF to formally submit its proposed areas of collaboration to the Authority, noting that such a step would provide a basis for further discussions and possible joint initiatives.

Mr. Bio also expressed his readiness to work with the Conservation Trust Fund to promote the sustainable protection and management of Sierra Leone’s natural resources, particularly ecosystems that are important to both environmental conservation and the livelihoods of coastal communities.

The engagement is expected to provide an opportunity for both institutions to identify practical areas of cooperation, including revenue mobilization and other mechanisms that could strengthen conservation efforts across the country.

The meeting was attended by SLPHA’s Director of Finance, Andrew Tamba Kpulun, and Director of Technical Services, Eustace D. O. Rogers.
