The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) on Saturday, 9 May 2026, organized a health walk to climax its commemoration of International Nurses Week.

The week-long activities concluded with a health walk from St. Helena School to the SLPHA car park in Cline Town. The event was spearheaded by the SLPHA Medical Team under the direction and supervision of the Director of Technical Services, Eustace Rogers.

The initiative was aimed at promoting physical fitness, healthy living, and awareness of the importance of healthcare within the workplace environment.

The 2026 Nurses Week celebration featured a series of activities, including the observance of International Hand Hygiene Day, free health screenings and vital checks for staff and members of the port host community, as well as the concluding health walk.

Nurses at the SLPHA Clinic used this year’s celebration to encourage workplace hygiene, regular exercise, teamwork, and wellness consciousness among staff, while also recognizing the dedication and invaluable contributions of nurses and healthcare workers to national development.

The Authority stated that the activity forms part of its broader commitment to staff welfare, health promotion, and the maintenance of high public health standards within the port community.
