Sierra Leone’s newly appointed ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran, His Excellency Ambassador Salamu Koroma, has formally presented his letters of credentials to His Excellency Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Republic of Iran.
During the ceremony, President Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Sierra Leone, emphasizing the mutual benefits of strengthening bilateral relations.
Ambassador Koroma conveyed warm greetings from His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, and expressed gratitude to President Pezeshkian for his leadership and commitment to fostering international partnerships. He highlighted Sierra Leone’s ongoing transformation under President Bio’s administration and assured Iran of his dedication to enhancing ties between the two nations, as directed by his government.
The ambassador emphasized the importance of Sierra Leone’s role as a member of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and its position on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). He stressed Sierra Leone’s readiness to cooperate with Iran in areas of mutual interest and underscored the potential for stronger collaboration in various sectors.
In his response, President Masoud Pezeshkian welcomed Ambassador Koroma to Iran and congratulated him on his appointment. The president urged the ambassador to explore all opportunities within Iran’s diverse sectors, including education, energy, agriculture, and tourism, to foster mutually beneficial relations. He encouraged closer engagement with Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other key institutions to unlock the full potential of bilateral cooperation.
“Our administration prioritizes expanding and strengthening relations with countries like Sierra Leone,” President Pezeshkian stated. “We are committed to ensuring a peaceful, and secure environment for productive partnerships. Ambassador Koroma can count on our full support to make meaningful progress during his tenure.” President Pezeshkian assured.
The ceremony marked a significant step toward deepening diplomatic and economic ties between Sierra Leone and Iran, with both leaders expressing optimism about the future of their collaboration.
