The Sierra Leone Basketball Federation (SLBF) is pleased to announce that FIBA Africa has officially selected Sierra Leone to host the 2025 FIBA National Youth Camp, scheduled to take place from 18th to 23rd. This prestigious development program will bring together elite youth players, national coaches, and a FIBA-appointed instructor for six days of intensive basketball education and talent development.
The FIBA National Youth Camp is part of FIBA Africa’s strategic initiative to support African federations in identifying emerging talent and strengthening grassroots basketball structures. In partnership with the NBA and other development organizations, the camp aims to provide young athletes with world-class training and create stronger pathways to elite basketball opportunities across the continent.
The program is designed to strengthen Sierra Leone’s national youth development system. Enhance coaching capacities through technical training for youth coaches. Identify top young players for progression to FIBA Regional Camps and increase Sierra Leone’s participation in future FIBA youth competitions
Hosting this camp marks a significant step forward for basketball development in Sierra Leone. It demonstrates SLBF’s growing role within the FIBA Africa network and reinforces the federation’s commitment to investing in youth, improving the game’s structure, and creating opportunities for young Sierra Leonean athletes.
