The Sierra Leone Senior National Men’s Cricket Team has departed the country to participate in the ILT20 Africa Continental Cup, scheduled to take place in Kigali, Rwanda, from September 8 to 19, 2026.
The Sierra Leone side will make its debut in the 12-day tournament, where it will compete against hosts Rwanda, Uganda, Botswana and Kenya.
The Senior Men’s Patriots will begin their campaign on Tuesday against Kenya before facing defending champions Uganda on Wednesday at the prestigious Gahanga Oval in Kigali.
The ILT20 has previously supported emerging cricketers from African associate nations through its player-development programme. The initiative has provided exposure and development opportunities to players from countries including Sierra Leone, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Botswana.
During the 2025–26 ILT20 season, Sierra Leonean cricketer Samuel Conteh was among the African players who benefited from the programme.
