The National Swimming Team, known as the Sierra Dolphins, is currently intensifying preparations ahead of their upcoming competitions. Head Coach Abib Kamara expressed confidence in the team’s readiness for the World Aquatics Championship in Doha, Qatar, scheduled for next month. He mentioned that the swimmers are in high spirits and have been training diligently at the Bintumani Hotel for the past two weeks to ensure they are mentally and physically prepared for the challenges ahead.
President of the Sierra Leone Aquatics, Mr. Mohamed Abdul Turay, encouraged the athletes to focus on their training and make the most of the modern facilities available at the Bintumani Hotel swimming pool. He emphasized the importance of aiming for a medal in the upcoming competitions to make Sierra Leoneans proud.
Looking ahead, there are several significant events lined up for the team, including the All-Africa Games in Accra, Ghana, in March, the African Swimming Championships in Angola in May, and the Olympic Games in Paris in July.
Female Swimmer Olamiday Elizabeth Sam expressed gratitude to the Sierra Leone Aquatics Executive Committee for their continuous support towards the team’s development and welfare. She assured that the team would give their best performance to bring honor to the association this year.
