Twenty-one-year-old shoemaker Anthony Sahr Koroma has been committed to the High Court in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 after he was accused of breaking into a dwelling house and stealing property valued at Le68, 000.
Koroma is facing one count of Housebreaking and Larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on April 20, 2026, at Smith Drive, Leicester Village, Western Area, Freetown, Koroma allegedly broke into and entered the dwelling house of Salamatu Mansaray with intent to steal.
The prosecution further alleged that he stole a 52-inch plasma television, an Apple computer and other assorted items, all valued at Le68,000 and belonging to Mansaray.
When the charge was read and explained to Koroma, no plea was taken because the matter was being heard as a committal proceeding.
The prosecution was represented by DPC 17649 Brima Kargbo, who called the Investigating Officer and presented evidence in support of the case.
In his ruling, Magistrate Jah said he was satisfied, after considering the prosecution’s submissions and the statement of the accused, that sufficient evidence had been presented to warrant committing the matter to the High Court for trial.
Magistrate Jah subsequently committed Koroma to the High Court and ordered that he be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown pending further proceedings.
