A 52-year-old retired military officer and former teacher, identified as Tamba Mambu, has reportedly died at a residence in Komao Town, Nimikoro Chiefdom, Kono District.
Mr. Mambu died on Monday, 3rd August 2026, after developing severe diarrhoea while staying at the home of a woman described by his family as his girlfriend.
His wife, Mrs. Massah Mambu, told this medium that a medical practitioner provided first aid to her husband and advised that he be taken to a health facility for further treatment. She explained that the medical practitioner later suggested that Mr. Mambu remain at the residence to rest before seeking further medical attention.
Mrs. Mambu said she was shocked to receive news of her husband’s death the following morning.
According to family members, Mr. Mambu had previously been advised to end the relationship with the woman and return to his matrimonial home, where his wife and five children reside.
The family acknowledged that allegations have been made against the woman at whose residence Mr. Mambu died. However, they emphasized that they have no evidence linking her to his death.
His sister, Councillor Juliet Mambu, said the family decided not to conduct a postmortem examination, explaining that they believed his death was according to God’s will.
The family has also urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information about the circumstances surrounding Mr. Mambu’s death.
