President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio, on Thursday received the President of the Gabonese Republic, His Excellency Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, at State House in Freetown.
The visit marked an official engagement between the two leaders aimed at strengthening the longstanding diplomatic relations between Sierra Leone and Gabon and exploring opportunities for deeper cooperation.
President Bio welcomed President Oligui Nguema and his delegation, describing the visit as a reflection of the strong and cordial relationship between the two countries. He reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s commitment to fostering partnerships that promote mutual benefits for both nations and extended warm hospitality to the Gabonese leader and his delegation.
The meeting at State House provided an opportunity for the two presidents to discuss areas of common interest and identify ways to enhance cooperation between Freetown and Libreville, particularly in areas that support peace, development, and regional integration.
President Oligui Nguema’s visit forms part of ongoing diplomatic engagements among African countries aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and advancing shared continental priorities.
Sierra Leone and Gabon are both members of the African Union and maintain diplomatic relations as part of their commitment to promoting cooperation, stability, and development across Africa.
State House in Freetown serves as the official office of the President of Sierra Leone and is the venue for receiving visiting heads of state and government officials. President Julius Maada Bio, a retired brigadier, has served as President of Sierra Leone since 2018, while President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema serves as President of the Gabonese Republic.
