Thirty-five-year-old Isha Conteh, a trader, and thirty-five-year-old Augustine Tamba Saffa, a police sergeant, appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown, facing four charges. The charges include two counts of possession of a prohibited drug without lawful authority and two counts of dealing in a prohibited drug without lawful authority.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Monday, 1st September 2025, at Yakama Street, New Site, Kenema, Eastern Province, the first defendant, Isha Conteh, was found in possession of seven hundred and ninety-nine wraps of cannabis sativa without lawful authority.
Count two further stated that, on the same date and place, Isha Conteh was involved in dealing a prohibited drug without lawful authority.
Count three alleged that, on the same date and place, the second defendant, Augustine Tamba Saffa, was found in possession of three parcels of cannabis sativa without lawful authority.
Count four further stated that, on the same date and place, Augustine Tamba Saffa was involved in dealing a prohibited drug without lawful authority.
When the charges were read and explained to the defendants, no plea was taken.
Magistrate Jah refused bail and ordered both defendants to be remanded in the male and female correctional facilities in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 8th October 2025.
