John Binneh Conteh, a pastor of the Living Stone Evangelical Ministry in Makeni, was on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, arraigned before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at Pademba Road Court No. 2 on charges of fraud involving $7,000.

The accused faces two charges: conspiracy to defraud, contrary to law, and causing money to be paid to another person by means of fraud, contrary to Section 32 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

Court records indicate that on an unspecified date in October 2024, in Pamalap, Kambia District, Conteh allegedly conspired with unknown persons to commit fraud. On October 3, 2024, it is alleged that Conteh fraudulently caused Mark Alusine Kamara to pay $7,000 (equivalent to Le170,800) to one Francis Koroma, who falsely claimed to have a Sprinter vehicle for sale. Investigators believe the accused knew this claim was false.

During his first court appearance, the charges were read and explained to the accused, but no plea was taken.

Magistrate Bangura adjourned the matter to Monday, January 20, 2025, for further hearing.

This case remains under investigation, and the court is expected to hear further evidence in the upcoming proceedings.
