Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, Chairman of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), commended the ongoing transformation efforts at the Queen Elizabeth II Quay during an inspection visit.
The visit was led by the Director General of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA), Yankuba Askia Bio. The tour covered key operational areas of the port, where the Committee Chairman engaged with port officials, concessionaires, and other stakeholders.
During the inspection, he was briefed on major infrastructure upgrades, including berth rehabilitation works, as well as measures being implemented to improve vessel turnaround time and enhance cargo handling efficiency.
Hon. Tawa Conteh expressed satisfaction with what he described as “remarkable progress,” commending the Authority’s commitment to transforming the port into a more efficient and competitive gateway for trade. He emphasized the port’s strategic importance to Sierra Leone’s economic growth and international commerce.
