Magistrate Sahr Kekura at the Pademba Road Court No. 1 has on the Wednesday 15th December 2021 sent the Organizing Secretary of the main opposition, APC Party, and others into remand after they made their first appearance before him over allegations of unlawful assembly, riotous conduct.
According to the indictment, Aruna Idrissa Fofanah, Francis Morlai Kamara, Aminata Kamara, Kumba Gibrilla, Kadija Banaglie, Isatu Jalloh, Salamatu Dumbuya, Fatu Conteh, Mariama Kamara, Fatmata Bangura, Karamoh Kabba, on Monday 13th December 2021, at Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown, conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit, unlawful assembly.
Police also alleged that these accused persons, on the same date and place unlawfully assemble with intent to commit a felony. Police furthered that these accused persons, did compel Assistant Superintendent of Police George Momoh, Inspector Sheka Ganda, to abstain from doing their job as police officers of the Sierra Leone Police Force did wrongfully and without legal authority intimidated the aforementioned police officers.
Police also alleged that these accused persons at the same place and time, did use certain invective statements to commit a breach of the peace.
In this circumstance, police slammed five counts charges of riotous conduct contrary to Section 12 of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965, unlawful assembly contrary to law, incitement contrary to law, intimidation contrary to Section 4 of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965.
Witnesses are yet to testify in court against these accused persons, and after a bail plea from lead defense counsel, lawyer Lansana Dumbuya, Magistrate Sahr Kekura refused bail and sent all accused person into remand and he adjourned the matter to the 21 of December 2021. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Ibrahim Sheik Mansaray prosecuting the matter.
