Orange Sierra Leone (OSL) has engaged the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) on network connectivity challenges at the Port of Freetown as part of activities marking Customer Service Week.
The engagement took place on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the office of SLPHA Director General Yankuba Askia Bio. The visit aimed to strengthen the partnership between the two institutions and improve network performance within the port environment.
The Orange Sierra Leone delegation was led by the company’s General Secretary, Danetta Younge, who expressed appreciation to the Director General and the Authority for their continued partnership with Orange, both institutionally and as individual subscribers.
During the visit, Younge assessed the Director General’s experience with Orange’s services and sought feedback on network connectivity at the port. She reaffirmed the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction and continuous service improvement.
Speaking during the meeting, SLPHA’s Director of Planning, Research and Development, Abubakarr Sidique Kamara, Esq., highlighted persistent network connectivity challenges at the port. He outlined previously reported faults and explained how the problems had affected effective communication within the port environment.
The concerns were raised to help Orange identify the underlying issues and take appropriate corrective measures to improve its services.
Welcoming the engagement, SLPHA Director General Yankuba Askia Bio emphasized the importance of reliable telecommunications services to port operations, coordination among stakeholders and customer satisfaction.
He urged Orange Sierra Leone to view the concerns as an opportunity to improve service delivery, particularly at the port, where dependable connectivity is essential for efficient operations.
“If you conduct a survey on our staff here, you will find out that the majority use your network. Making network connectivity better for us here will greatly improve our communication,” Mr. Bio said.
The engagement highlights the importance of collaboration between SLPHA and service providers in addressing operational challenges and ensuring that stakeholders within the port environment have access to reliable and efficient telecommunications services.
