As part of their corporate social responsibility, Orange Mobile Company has yesterday the 14th of July 2022, responded to a request made by parliament by providing ten (10) computers to the Information Communications Technology (ICT) Department.
In her handing over statement, the Head of Public Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility Officer Annie Wonnie Katta, disclosed that they had a meeting with the clerk of parliament justifying the need for Parliament to have computers in the Information and Communications Technology Department.
She added that it is has been the clarion call for the House of Parliament reaching out to Orange Mobile company to provide support for the ICT Department.
She maintained that the donated computers are geared towards promoting the smooth transition of parliament to an e-parliament.
“So today we are here to provide ten (10) computers to parliament in order to enhance their work. The donation today is also to help support the digital drive of the house of Parliament since parliament has been passionate about the e-parliament”, he stated.
She continued that Orange Mobile Company underscored the importance of providing ten computers to the House of Representatives as one of the best ways to promote the e-parliament.
She stated that as a corporate institution, Orange Mobile Company also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with institutions in order to exhibit their corporate social responsibility. Thus, she concluded by reiterating that the ten computers donated to Parliament are part of their corporate social responsibility.
In receipt of the ten computers, the Clerk of Parliament Hon. Paran Tarawally confessed that the donated computers are very timely. He added that the computers will now aid the ICT Department in ensuring that the parliament of Sierra Leone achieves it digital drive.
On behalf of the Speaker and Members of Parliament, the Clerk extended profound thanks and appreciation to Orange Mobile Company for such a laudable gesture. Hon. Paran Tarawally equally assured the team from Orange Mobile Company that the computers will definitely support Parliament’s ICT drive adding that, such support will forever lingers in their hearts.
