In a significant development within Sierra Leone’s petroleum sector, the Director General of the National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA), Brima Baluwa Koroma, has officially unveiled a modernized retail fuel outlet belonging to NP (SL) Limited in the Kissy community, Freetown.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, the NPRA Director General commended the Board, management, and staff of NP (SL) Limited for their commitment and efforts in strengthening Sierra Leone’s petroleum sector through improved product availability and efficient service delivery.
He noted that the company continues to leverage its long-standing history, corporate culture, and experience to enhance public trust and expand its operations. He described NP (SL) Limited as “the past, present, and future” of Sierra Leone’s downstream petroleum industry, highlighting its continued relevance in the sector.
Brima Baluwa Koroma further encouraged NP (SL) Limited to sustain its expansion drive and prioritize investments in petroleum infrastructure, particularly storage facilities and retail outlets. He assured the company that, despite increasing competition in the sector, the Government remains committed to supporting its growth, sustainability, and contribution to national revenue generation.
He also stated that NP (SL) Limited has maintained a leading position over the years and has embraced digital innovation, which has improved efficiency, visibility, and competitiveness within and beyond Sierra Leone.
The Director General added that the company’s operations align with the Government’s broader development agenda under President Julius Maada Bio, particularly in ensuring the accessibility of petroleum products across the country.
In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of NP (SL) Limited, Mohamed S. Kanu, expressed appreciation for what he described as his first unveiling ceremony since returning to Sierra Leone. He highlighted the company’s key achievements and outlined strategic plans for future expansion.
He also thanked the NPRA leadership for their continued support and cooperation in promoting stability and growth within the petroleum industry, especially during challenging periods.
Despite increasing competition in the sector, he affirmed that NP (SL) Limited remains committed to maintaining its leading position in Sierra Leone and the wider sub-region. He emphasized that the company will continue to be proactive rather than reactive in responding to industry developments.
The CEO further disclosed that, with approval from the NPRA, NP (SL) Limited plans to construct five additional modern retail fuel outlets nationwide to expand service delivery and improve access to petroleum products.
