Following the completion of the International Coach Enrichment Certificate Program (ICECP), the Technical Director of the National Federation of Volleyball (NFV) Sierra Leone , Coach Sorie Kamara on May 14 2024 presented a Diploma Certificate to the President of the National Olympic Committee/ Commonwealth Games Association of Sierra Leone (NOC/ CGA-SLE), Prince Sualley.
In his statements at the NOC Walpole Street’s office in Freetown, the President of National Federation of Volleyball Sierra Leone Ahmed Khanou, said the ICECP is for experienced coaches across the World and it is what the International Olympic Committee (IOC) wants to use to uplift the Olympic movement across the world, expressing their gratefulness to Coach Sorie Kamara, their Technical Director for successfully completing the trainings in both sectors from the Delaware University in the United States of America and the one from the IOC’s headquarters in Luzern, Switzerland.
“Today he is a proud recipient of that certificate. May I additionally state that on the account of his performance on that certificate, Coach Sorie, who was a Level One certified volleyball coach has equally been promoted to a Level Three certified volleyball coach and is not just about it, he is now been certified as a Volleyball Instructor within the FIVB movement,” he said.
“The FIVB has just approved the Knowledge Transfer Project and funds to that effect, it have been transferred to the Volleyball Federation and at the end of this month we will start implementing that project, as a matter of the fact, the project he presented to the ICECP,” Khanou affirmed.
He furthered that the Knowledge Transfer project is part of their strategy in developing the sport of volleyball, adding that they want to develop a pool of athletes, administrators, referees as well as coaches.
The NFV President thanked the NOC’s Chief for his vision to develop sport in the country, assuring him that as a national federation, whenever they benefit from these resources they will make the difference and that the Knowledge Transfer Project will be launched at the end of this month and to be concluded in November.
Giving the overview on the one year course – the International Coach Enrichment Certificate Program (ICECP), Coach Sorie Kamara underscored that he started the course with 56 modules online, six hours every night, before he went to the Delaware University in America where they reviewed all of the works he did online. After that, he went for a practical assessment is Los Angeles for a week where he came out with a 100% pass mark. He went back to Delaware where he also presented his project and scored another 100% pass mark. He came back home to implement the project and with the support of the national federation, the athletes he successfully implemented the project in Pujehun, Bo and Freetown.
He presented his project reports, Attestation from the Delaware University in the USA and Diploma Certificate awarded to him by the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach for completing the course online, practical, writing the project and professional seminars.
For his part, the NOC/ CGA-SLE’s President Prince Sualley said it’s really no surprise to him that Coach Sorie will go through such a program and come out with a flying colors, as that’s the first reason why we recommended him for the program.
“I am so gratified that you did not let us down. You did your level best to represent not only the NOC, but our country in such a prestigious program in the University of Delaware in the United States.”
“For you to go through that program and comes out flying colors speaks volume to your talent and what you can bring to our country as a whole,” President Sualley stated.
