The Ministry of Youth Affairs has suspended the Chairman of the Kono District Youth Council, Sahr O. Fallah, over the alleged unauthorized suspension of the Chairman of the Gbense Chiefdom Youth Council, Aiah Joseph Mbayoh.

According to a letter dated September 10, 2026, the Ministry said it had taken note of Fallah’s decision to suspend Mbayoh and appoint Mohamed Safea Wayie as Acting Chairman of the Gbense Chiefdom Youth Council.

The Ministry said a review of the circumstances surrounding the decision established that Mbayoh’s suspension was carried out without the requisite authority and in breach of established procedures governing the administration and discipline of chiefdom youth councils.

It described the unilateral suspension of Mbayoh and the subsequent appointment of an acting chairman as a serious administrative violation, raising concerns over alleged disregard for due process and interference with the lawful functioning of the Gbense Chiefdom Youth Council.

The suspension comes amid reported dissatisfaction among some youths in the district following Fallah’s decision to appoint Safea Wayie as Acting Chairman of the Gbense Chiefdom Youth Council.

The aggrieved youths reportedly stormed and locked the District Youth Council office, demanding that Fallah withdraw his decision to appoint Wayie to the position.

Consequently, the Ministry of Youth Affairs, acting in its capacity as the supervising ministry and on the instruction of the Minister, suspended Fallah from the office of District Youth Council Chairman, effective September 10, 2026, pending further investigation.

The Ministry clarified that the suspension is an administrative measure pending investigation and does not constitute a final determination of any allegation against Fallah.

It further stated that Fallah would be given an opportunity to be heard as part of the process to resolve the matter.

Meanwhile, the Ministry has called on Fallah to fully cooperate with the investigation, stressing the importance of maintaining peace, discipline, accountability and unity, as well as ensuring the effective functioning of the district and chiefdom youth council structures.
