Ministry of Health (MoHS) announced on June 23, 2025, that the two-week-old baby boy reported missing from Ola During Children’s Hospital (ODCH) has been safely recovered and is responding to treatment.
In a press release, the Ministry credited the successful recovery to a joint operation between MoHS, Sierra Leone Police (SLP), and ODCH management following the infant’s disappearance on June 6, 2025.
“The child was located through stringent security measures, collaborative investigations, and public engagement – including a reward offer for information,” the statement confirmed. The infant is now receiving care at SLP Hospital in King Tom.
Ministry of Health continued to strengthen security protocols in an effort to prevent future incidents. Authorities also called for accelerated police investigation:
The ministry thanks SLP and all partners involved in this recovery. We now urge police to expedite investigations into the child’s disappearance and ensure perpetrators face the full force of the law; emphasizing its commitment to safeguarding patients at all health facilities.
